When I visit the library I go through the automatic doors.
My library has only one floor.

When I enter the library, I walk by the circulation desk on my way to the Youth Department.

The circulation desk is where I check out and return books and materials I want to borrow.

This is the entrance to the Youth Department.

When I enter the Youth Department I will see the reference desk where the librarians sit. If I have a question or need help finding something I can ask a librarian.

The Youth Department has rules I need to follow.

Food and drink are not allowed in the Youth Department.

If I need to eat or drink I can use a booth at the front of the library. If the weather is nice I can go outside.
My library has a drinking fountain, water bottle filling station and a vending machine that sells snacks.

Sometimes there are many other people in the Youth Department and it can be noisy. If it is too noisy I can borrow a pair of headphones.

There are many things I can do at the library.

I can look for books.

I can look for DVDs.

I can look for other things to borrow and take home.

I can read.

I can play with the toys on the steam cart.

I can play at the train table.

I can use the computers to look for books, to play games, or watch videos.

I can sit in the library’s reading nook if I want a cozy place to read or relax.

I can go outside

My library has a music garden.

My library has a nature path with a storywalk.

My library has a pavilion with tables and chairs.

This is Norbert. He is a bearded dragon. He lives in a tank at the library. Norbert does not make any sounds. I can look at Norbert but I can not tap on his tank because that could hurt his ears.

This is the meeting room at my library.
Sometimes the library has storytime and other programs in this room.

If I need to use the restroom at the library there is one in the
Youth Department.

My family and I can use our library card to check out materials to take home. I can borrow things from the library for 3 weeks (some new items have shorter borrowing times).
When my items are due, I have to return them to the library so other poeple can borrow them.

I can check out using the self check out machine or with library staff at the circulation desk.
